Axel Johnson Inc. acquires and invests in companies to own and operate them, with the aim of building long-term enterprise value. We recognize that all businesses are affected by externalities that can accelerate or slow the pace of a company’s progress, and as a privately held company, we are not beholden to quarter-to-quarter earnings growth. However, we care very much about earning an appropriate return on the capital and management resources we invest in a business over time. We believe no company can survive indefinitely unless it generates economic value for its share owners on a consistent basis.

We have a history of reinvesting much of the current profits of our operating companies into initiatives that support their expansion as well as periodically injecting new capital to enable them to access new opportunities. We are strongly committed to the management team we develop in each company. Our goal is to create the structure and resource base that best positions each company’s leaders to pursue new ideas, take risks and build sustainable advantage in their markets.
