Mountain Lumber Co. is one of the oldest reclaimed wood flooring and millwork companies in the United States. Founder Willie Drake began sourcing timbers from old textile mills in Virginia and the southeastern United States in 1974. The company now recovers antique wood timbers from a variety of sources, including abandoned industrial mills, antique barns, submerged forests, 19th-century breweries and ancient Chinese structures, and refinishes them into custom flooring and millwork.
Mountain Lumber’s flooring and millwork grace prestigious addresses and treasured monuments such as Monticello, Montpelier, Mount Vernon, Ash Lawn-Highland and Poplar Forest. The company’s flooring has also been used in some of the finest museum, retail and office spaces in New York City, Boston, Richmond, Atlanta, Denver and Los Angeles, not to mention homes across the United States and around the world.
Mountain Lumber’s reclaimed products will provide points toward LEED-certified projects, and the company is actively working with many of the leading ecologically motivated architects, builders and designers.
